Montealto arranging for the construction of a solar energy plant in Chiclana de Segura

Jaén, 13 May 2008 – Montealto Energy, through its subsidiary Andalusia Solar Photovoltaic Energy (ESF), has executed the projects and steps required for the promotion and start up of a photovoltaic solar energy plant in located in the municipality of Chiclana de Segura, which will generate 1.2 megawatts of power.

For the approval of this project, called Los Mochuelos, Montealto has had the support of the town council, as well as the province’s competent administrations. The plant, in which over 7 million euros will be invested, will occupy an area of 4 hectares.

The entire construction process for the solar power park, which will be operational before September, will generate 15 direct job posts. According to initial estimates, at full yield these facilities will produce the equivalent of the annual consumption of 705 families and will entail a CO2 emission savings of 744 tonnes per annum.

This project has been executed through Montealto Energy, a business area of the Montealto industrial group from which the execution of different electric generation projects are planned using renewable sources (photovoltaic, solar thermal, biogas and wind power). These initiatives clearly demonstrate its commitment to sustainable development and the use of natural resources in line with European Union objectives as regards renewable energies.
